Road Trip Pt. 2-Boulder, CO

Writing
from Boulder, Colorado, as I look out of a large window from our fourth floor
room at the foothills, and snowcapped peaks peeking out from behind them. And a
few apartment buildings are also in view, but really, I couldn't have imagined
it much better for this part of the road-trip adventure!
We
started out in Concordia, Missouri, and after having a disagreement with our
GPS unit when it started trying to route us around Kansas City on some random
highway, we followed I70 West for hours and hours. At first it wasn't too
bad--at least everything was green, and there were still some hills around to
look at. Something we noticed throughout Kansas were all the billboards
(because there wasn't much competition of stuff to look at). There were a lot
more of the "adult super stores" billboards, but there were also a
lot of ones with Christian messages or would simply say "Jesus" on
them. There was even this one adult super store right off an exit, and on the
on-ramp from it (to get back on the free way), there was a billboard that said
something about how Jesus heals from porn addiction or something like that.
Kind of like the "Great Controversy" on billboards.
Anyway,
by the last several miles of Kansas, i was starting to wonder if this whole
thing was such a good idea...I mean, something about the flatness..even if it
is green..and the straightness of the road...it starts numbing your mind right
along with the rest of your body from sitting too long! And the wind..it was
ridiculous! If you turned the wheel to the left you could go straight. Mom has
been a trooper, and we listened to the entire radio theatre presentation of
"The Horse and His Boy" from the Chronicles of Narnia. But then
again, I had to listen to an entire cd of Philippino music from the 70's, so I
think it was a fair compromise! :)
After
the monotony of Kansas, we continued toward Denver, and the hills grew, and the
mountains came into view amidst the swirling thunderstorm clouds and distant
rain...that's when I knew it was worth it. That's when my heart came alive
again...
The
thunderstorm has past with all its power and majesty, and a lone star twinkles
back at me with the promise of beautiful surprises tomorrow beyond the darkened
peaks. God is sure amazing at everything He does!
