Well,
due to my need for a break from work and thanks to some very understanding
bosses, I am taking a two-week vacation. What would you do if you had two weeks
to do anything you wanted? I didn't even have to think about it. Road-tripping
had been on my mind for some time, and since the dream had become an option, it
became a reality! Destination: the Northwest, via all the mountains I can
possibly fit in between here and there. Other goals: finding options for
possible job opportunities and relocation.
Naturally,
being the independant young person that I am, my first choice was to strike out
on my own into the great unknown! But, also wanting to put fears at ease of
everyone even half-related to me, I listened to my dad's advice and invited my
mom to come along for the ride.
So
far, it's been a long journey over relatively boring scenery. The plan is to
get the mid-west out of the way as fast as possible so we can get to the good
stuff in Colorado! So that brings us here, on our first night, to Concordia,
Missouri (about 40-60 miles or so from Kansas City), after about an 11 hour
drive. I do have to admit, however, that Missouri isn't quite as bad as I kept
trying to tell my mom. In fact, after our short walk in a quiet neighborhood in
town, it really doesn't seem all that bad. Well, except for the billboards for
porn and 'adult' stores about every 100 yards or so on the freeway. That's
pretty wierd...
But
for now, just chillin' in the motel, catching up on email, and getting ready
for another long day in the car tomorrow. Boulder, Colorado, here we come! :)
